University Librarian

About the role

The University Librarian leads the Koforidua Technical University Library, ensuring that students and faculty have access to up‑to‑date information resources that support teaching, learning, and research. Reporting directly to the Vice‑Chancellor, the Librarian oversees all library operations in line with university statutes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of print and digital resources.
• Develop and implement library policies, budgets, and strategic plans.
• Supervise library staff, fostering professional development and high service standards.
• Ensure equitable access to information resources across physical and virtual environments.
• Maintain compliance with university vision, mission, and statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Library or Information Science; PhD preferred.
• Minimum six years experience as Deputy Librarian or equivalent senior role in a university or comparable institution.
• Member of a professional librarianship or information science body with at least 15 scholarly publications.
• Demonstrated leadership, staff motivation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to serve a full four‑year term before reaching the compulsory retirement age of 60.

Required skills

• Proficiency with library management software and records management systems.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with digital information platforms.
