Vice President of Operations

About the role

The Vice President of Operations leads all operational functions at the Obuasi Mine, driving integrated performance across geology, mining, processing and engineering. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role ensures safe, reliable delivery of the approved business plan while fostering a culture of ownership and disciplined execution.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible leadership for safe production practices and enforce critical operational controls.
• Integrate mining, geology, technical services, engineering and processing into a single operating plan.
• Hold operational leaders accountable for development, production, productivity and cost targets.
• Define and enforce accountability frameworks for contractors, overseeing performance and KPIs.
• Develop and manage annual budgets, operational plans and risk mitigation aligned with the Life of Mine plan.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of mining experience with senior leadership in large‑scale mechanised hard‑rock underground operations.
• Proven track record of turning around or optimising complex underground mines.
• Experience managing senior functional teams and major underground contractors.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Mining Engineering (or related technical discipline) qualification.
• Expertise in underground mining operations, contractor performance management and operational budgeting.
• Ability to use performance indicators, root‑cause analysis and recovery action planning.
