Voice AI Research Participant (Remote)

About the role

Mercor is looking for native English speakers in East and West Africa to help evaluate a new voice‑assistant AI. Over the course of a week you will make a handful of short phone calls, share your real‑life questions, and provide feedback to improve the system.

Key responsibilities

• Make five phone calls to the voice assistant within approximately one week.
• Ask real‑world questions about health, work, learning, or practical topics.
• Complete a brief survey after each call to record your experience.
• Ensure each call lasts between five and fifteen minutes and ends naturally.
• Provide feedback that will be used to enhance the voice assistant’s performance.

Required profile

• 18 years or older and residing in Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, or Nigeria.
• Comfortable speaking English.
• Willing to consent to call recording for evaluation purposes.
• Feature‑phone user or smartphone user with limited or no data plan.
• Little or no prior experience with AI assistants.
• Open to participants from mixed genders and both rural and urban locations.

Required skills

What we offer

• Compensation of $10–$20 per hour, paid based on actual time spent per completed call and survey.
• All call costs are covered; participants incur no expense.
• Fully remote work with a flexible schedule of 2–3 hours per week.
