Winder Driver Trainer

About the role

The Winder Driver Trainer will coordinate training, monitoring and quality control of cage operators and winder drivers at the Obuasi underground mine. The role ensures compliance with LI2182, safety standards and operational policies while maximizing plant availability.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor statutory inspections of winders, material transport and slinging activities in line with LI2182 and Ghanaian regulations.
• Execute the Winder Driver training plan, record task completion and ensure drivers understand maintenance requirements for winders, shafts and ropes.
• Develop risk and mitigation plans for all winder training activities and adapt training to the maintenance system schedule.
• Design reporting structures to provide operational readiness inputs to the Maintenance Manager – UG.
• Manage departmental budget, evaluate cost impacts and identify cost‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience as a Winder Driver in underground mining, with proven ability to train drivers to certification.
• Project management experience and ability to develop risk mitigation plans.
• Legal requirement: possession of a MINCOM Certification as a Winder Driver.

Required skills

• MINCOM Certification for Winder Drivers.
• Knowledge of Man and Rock winders.
• Understanding of AC and DC winder practices.
• Proactive winder maintenance strategies.
• Experience delivering winder driver certification training.
