Winder Rope Specialist

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is finalising the redevelopment of the Obuasi underground mine and seeks an experienced Winder Rope Specialist. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient operation of winder equipment and the associated rigging team, supporting the mine’s target of up to 5,000 t/day of ore production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement safety management plan elements for winder and rope operations.
• Provide technical input to senior managers for construction, refurbishment, and operational planning.
• Monitor compliance with LI2182, Ghana mining approvals, and the site Environmental Management Plan.
• Supervise and train Winder Rigger/Ropesmen personnel, ensuring zero reportable environmental incidents.
• Design reporting structures for the Maintenance Manager to track operational readiness of winding systems.
• Oversee execution of the Operational Readiness plan, including localisation and training programmes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 5 years (60 months) relevant experience.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and lead a technical team.
• Strong understanding of underground mining safety standards and regulatory requirements.
