Winder Specialist – Electrical

About the role

The Winder Specialist – Electrical will lead the electrical team responsible for the operation, maintenance and safety of the underground winding equipment at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi mine. The role ensures that all electrical activities comply with company policies, Ghanaian regulations and environmental standards while maximizing plant availability.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control the quality of winder electrical technicians and winding equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Develop and provide safety management plan elements for winding and refurbishment projects.
• Collect and analyse operational data, report to the Maintenance Manager and support the Operational Readiness plan.
• Supervise, train and certify winder electrical personnel in accordance with LI2182 and local approvals.
• Communicate environmental instructions and ensure zero reportable incidents.
• Define roles, accountabilities and reporting structures for the electrical team.
• Coordinate with the Superintendent Winders & Shafts, Safety Manager, Refurbishment Manager and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 5 years of experience in underground mining electrical systems.
• Proven knowledge of winding and ore‑skip equipment.
• Familiarity with Ghana mining regulations, safety standards and environmental management plans.
• Strong leadership and training capabilities.
