About the role
The Programme Management Office (PRMO) Senior Officer supports the Head of PMO, the Head of Programme and senior management in exercising governance over the Multi‑Country Office (MCO) portfolio. The role provides oversight, advisory and decision‑enabling functions to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery of projects across West Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Assist project teams in applying UNOPS standards and best practices, and coordinate the development and tracking of unit plans.
- Support the establishment, monitoring and delivery of business and programme strategies, verifying budgets against forecasts.
- Develop and monitor Gender Action Plans and ensure compliance throughout project cycles.
- Design and maintain resource‑tracking systems complementary to UNOPS online tools for effective planning and forecasting.
- Identify, anticipate and escalate risks and issues to the Head of PMO and senior management.
- Guide project setup, implementation and closure activities, ensuring all required plans (implementation, HR, procurement, quality, stakeholder engagement) are in place and followed.
- Produce regular project and corporate reports in line with client, donor and corporate guidelines.
- Assess project health against key performance indicators (scope, cost, schedule, quality, risk) and advise on corrective actions.
Required profile
- Proven experience in programme or project management within an international development or UN‑related environment.
- Strong knowledge of UNOPS policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams and guide project managers toward best‑practice implementation.
- Excellent analytical, reporting and risk‑management capabilities.
