Communications Associate

About the role

The Communications Associate will support UN-Habitat Ghana in promoting sustainable urbanisation, housing, and climate‑resilient initiatives. Working closely with programme teams, the associate ensures that project achievements are visible to stakeholders, partners, and the wider public.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate communication activities into project work plans and align messaging with project goals and milestones.
• Develop and disseminate communication materials, including briefs, reports, dashboards, and social‑media content.
• Manage UN‑Habitat Ghana’s social‑media channels and coordinate media relations to enhance visibility.
• Track communication performance indicators such as media reach and stakeholder engagement, and feed results into donor updates and internal reviews.
• Ensure all outputs comply with UN‑Habitat branding and visibility standards.
• Identify and promote innovative pilot initiatives, sharing lessons across projects and the wider UN‑Habitat network.
• Support the preparation of periodic reports, briefs, and dashboards for senior management and donors.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of communication strategies in the development sector.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, development partners, and local communities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
