Customs Clearing Officer

About the role

The Clearing Officer supports the execution of customs clearance and port operations for imports and exports at Kasapreko PLC’s facilities in Accra, Ghana. Reporting to the Clearing Supervisor, the role ensures timely and compliant movement of goods through Ghana’s ports, particularly Tema.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, process and verify all customs documentation (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, permits, certificates).
• Coordinate with clearing agents, shipping lines, port authorities and regulatory bodies to secure timely clearance.
• Track shipments from arrival to final delivery, monitoring timelines and updating status reports.
• Resolve customs‑related issues such as delays, discrepancies and documentation errors.
• Ensure compliance with Ghana Customs regulations, including classification, valuation and duty payments.
• Support efforts to eliminate demurrage, detention and storage charges through proactive follow‑ups.
• Maintain accurate records of clearance transactions and liaise with procurement, warehouse and finance teams.
• Assist in preparing logistics and clearance reports, cost tracking and performance metrics.
• Provide documentation for audits and stay updated on changes to customs procedures and trade regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 3–4 years of post‑national‑service experience in customs clearance or port operations.
• Valid Ghanaian driver’s licence is an advantage.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Ghana Customs systems (GCNet/ICUMS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
