Head of Debt Financing

About the role

The Head of Debt Financing will lead the Business and Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Debt activities for Absa Bank Ghana. Reporting on the debt balance sheet and P&L, the role drives client acquisition, retention, market share growth and enterprise development across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Own the Debt balance sheet and P&L targets, working with relationship managers across sectors.
• Develop and execute the country‑level CIB Debt financing strategy, aligning with pan‑African initiatives.
• Lead pricing, structuring and product assessment for debt transactions, ensuring compliance with governance and pricing policies.
• Support relationship managers in originating and executing debt deals, coordinating with specialist product teams.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date debt pipeline and identify portfolio opportunities.
• Implement best practices and drive cross‑sell initiatives to become the leading bank in Ghana.
• Enhance customer experience by shaping value propositions and service delivery.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in debt financing within a banking environment.
• Strong track record of managing balance sheet and P&L responsibilities.
• Ability to formulate and execute country‑wide financing strategies.
• Experience collaborating with regional teams and aligning multi‑country strategies.
• Deep understanding of debt pricing, product structuring and regulatory compliance.
