Cake Packaging Operator

About the role

The Nibs/Cake Packaging Operator is responsible for operating the cake and nibs bagging machines, conducting in‑line quality tests and ensuring proper labeling, handling and transfer of finished bags to storage. The role is based in Tema and reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cake and nibs bagging machines to fill bags after pressing and nibs making processes.
• Perform in‑line critical control point (CCP) quality tests and collect samples according to defined protocols.
• Inspect and clean finished product, verify weight, and isolate any defects.
• Drive forklift to move packed product to temporary holding area and coordinate with logistics.
• Clean, disinfect and perform preventive maintenance on packaging equipment and workstations.
• Print, paste and scan SAP labels, record traceability data in MES and production forms.
• Report equipment abnormalities and support general plant cleaning and maintenance activities.

Required profile

• NVTI Grade I or II in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum one year post‑qualification experience in manufacturing, food processing or production environment.
• Good understanding of GMP, HACCP, hygiene standards and food safety requirements.
• Valid forklift licence and ability to work safely with PPE.

Required skills

• Operating bagging machinery and performing CCP quality checks.
• Using SAP, MES and other production management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Forklift operation and basic equipment maintenance.
