Corporate EHS Manager – Building/Construction Projects

About the role

Lead the EHS discipline within Mawums Limited’s corporate EHQS function, reporting to the General Manager – Construction Division. Provide independent assurance that all Ghana projects, quarries, production facilities, workshops, camps and support operations comply with legal, contractual and corporate EHS requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Mawums corporate EHS policy, strategy, standards and annual improvement programme across Ghana.
• Maintain an EHS governance framework with clear accountabilities, controls, reporting lines and escalation thresholds.
• Chair corporate EHS reviews and deliver independent assurance, priority risks and required decisions to senior management.
• Maintain a current register of Ghanaian occupational safety, labour, environmental, fire and public‑health regulations and translate them into practical controls.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections, statutory submissions, licence conditions and responses to enforcement actions.
• Establish project‑specific EHS requirements during tender review, planning, mobilisation and major scope changes.
• Review and approve Project EHS plans, environmental plans, traffic management plans and emergency arrangements before high‑risk work begins.
• Set standards for hazard identification, risk assessment, method statements, permit‑to‑work systems and task‑level briefings.
• Review high‑risk activities such as critical lifts, confined‑space work, excavation, work at height and hot work to ensure effective controls.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience with at least 120 months (10 years) in EHS within construction or building projects.
• Deep knowledge of Ghanaian occupational safety, labour, environmental, fire and public‑health regulations.
• Proven ability to provide independent assurance to senior management and drive a safety‑first culture.
• Experience in project mobilisation, EHS planning and risk assessment.
• Strong governance, reporting and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
