Dean, Medical School

About the role

The University of Ghana invites applications for the position of Dean of the Medical School, effective 1 August 2025. The Dean will lead the School within the College of Health Sciences, overseeing education, research and service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and ensure compliance with university statutes, council, academic board and school management committee policies.
• Oversee the implementation of approved academic programmes and coordinate activities across all medical school departments.
• Manage human, financial and material resources in line with university policy.
• Foster a collegial environment, promote research funding, and drive the School’s growth and development.

Required profile

• Hold professorial status in an academic or research institution, or be an industry professional eligible for the role.
• Demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, research and extension within relevant health disciplines.
• Proven managerial and administrative experience with the ability to create a collaborative work culture.
• Track record of attracting research and development funding.
• Visionary mindset to guide the School’s expansion and uphold its mission.
• Good standing with a Medical Regulatory Authority.
