Director, Legal & Company Secretary (Ghana)

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking a Director, Legal & Company Secretary to lead legal and governance functions for its Ghana operations, including the Obuasi and Iduapriem mines and several Sustainable Development Units. Reporting to the Vice President, Legal West Africa, this senior position will provide strategic legal counsel, manage risk, and ensure regulatory compliance across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Ghana Legal department, fostering a high‑performance team.
• Design and implement legal service strategies aligned with business objectives and emerging legal trends.
• Establish structured processes for contract review, legal advisory, and corporate secretarial duties.
• Oversee compliance with local and international mining regulations, environmental standards, and corporate governance requirements.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory authorities.
• Support sustainable development initiatives and community engagement through legal guidance.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in corporate, mining, and regulatory law.
• Proven leadership experience managing legal teams in a complex, multi‑site environment.
• Strong understanding of Ghanaian mining legislation and corporate governance standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
