Director of Legal & Company Secretary (Ghana)

About the role

As the Director of Legal & Company Secretary for AngloGold Ashanti’s Ghana operations, you will lead legal and governance functions across the Obuasi and Iduapriem mines and five Sustainable Development Units. Reporting to the Vice President, Legal West Africa, you will provide strategic legal advice, manage legal risks and ensure compliance with Ghanaian regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and manage the Ghana Legal department, fostering a high‑performance team.
• Develop and execute legal service strategies aligned with business needs and emerging legal trends.
• Create and maintain structured processes for contract reviews and legal advisory services.
• Manage relationships with external legal providers, ensuring cost‑efficiency and quality.
• Align legal processes with Group Legal vision and risk frameworks.
• Provide timely strategic guidance and operational oversight to business units.
• Drive compliance with labour laws and oversee contract negotiations.

Required profile

• Seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in corporate and mining law.
• Proven ability to lead legal teams and advise senior management.
• Strong understanding of Ghanaian regulatory and labour legislation.
• Excellent risk‑management and governance expertise.
