Director of Nursing Services

About the role

The Board of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is seeking a senior professional to lead its nursing and midwifery teams. The Director of Nursing Services will provide strategic direction, ensure high‑quality clinical practice, and act as the principal technical advisor on all nursing and midwifery matters within the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Set, monitor and evaluate nursing and midwifery practice standards in line with the Ghana Nursing and Midwifery Council.
• Promote and oversee quality‑assurance systems across all nursing services.
• Advise senior management on staffing needs, ensuring equitable distribution of personnel.
• Monitor performance, provide mentorship, and lead professional development initiatives.
• Develop, implement and disseminate policies; lead recruitment and succession planning.
• Safeguard staff welfare and contribute to research, development and strategic planning.
• Prepare and submit regular reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Midwife with a postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree) recognized by the Midwifery Council of Ghana.
• Minimum of three years experience as Deputy Chief Nursing Officer or equivalent senior nursing leadership role.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, advocacy and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in report writing.
• Good computer literacy.
