Fabricator – Winders & Shaft (Mining)

About the role

The Fabricator – Winders & Shaft is responsible for welding, fabrication and boiler‑making activities supporting refurbishment, maintenance and repair of winders and shafts at the Obuasi Gold Mine. The role ensures work is performed safely, compliantly and to high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate, modify and repair winder‑related structural components such as skip and cage frames, guide systems and rope attachments according to approved drawings.
• Execute welding and cutting operations in line with applicable welding codes and company quality standards.
• Conduct dimensional and visual quality checks on fabricated work and report non‑conformances.
• Support planned and unplanned maintenance, shaft inspections and shutdowns with on‑site fabrication capability.
• Perform boiler making and related fabrication tasks for refurbishment activities.
• Carry out daily pre‑start equipment checks, recognise anomalies and report them.

Required profile

• High School Certificate with 5 years welding/fabrication experience or technical certification (City & Guilds, NVTI) with 3 years experience.
• 3–5 years experience in fabrication or welding, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining Health, Safety and Technical Regulation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
