General Manager – Poultry Farm Turnaround

About the role

AkroFarms is entering a decisive growth and recovery phase. The General Manager – Poultry Farm Turnaround will take full executive responsibility for stabilising operations, restoring profitability, raising growth capital and scaling the farm toward a 480,000‑bird vision. This hands‑on role blends deep poultry operations expertise with fundraising, investor engagement and execution excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a comprehensive diagnostic review of operations, costs, productivity, biosecurity and management systems, and stabilise production across layers, hatchery, brooding and feed operations.
• Restore cash‑flow discipline, develop profitability improvement plans, and produce operating budgets, cash‑flow forecasts and unit‑economics for board and investors.
• Drive capital‑raise efforts (equity, debt, blended finance, grants) and prepare investor pitch decks, financial models and expansion capex plans.
• Oversee execution of infrastructure projects such as silo systems, greenhouse rollout and breeder‑house construction, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Build, motivate and lead a high‑performance farm management team, establishing clear KPIs, governance and reporting to the CEO and Board.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercial poultry operations with proven turnaround or scale‑up leadership.
• Demonstrated management of layer, hatchery, brooding and feed‑processing operations.
• Fundraising and investor‑engagement experience in agribusiness or food systems.
• Strong financial literacy – budgeting, cash‑flow management, unit‑economics and ROI analysis.
• Desirable: experience scaling poultry beyond 100,000 birds, exposure to DFIs/impact investors, and work experience in West Africa.
