Health & Safety Technician

About the role

Our client is looking for a proactive Health & Safety Technician to support the implementation and maintenance of workplace health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across sites in Accra and Tema. You will work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine workplace inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring HSE policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near‑misses, documenting findings and supporting corrective actions.
• Monitor proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce safe work practices.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, incident logs, and compliance documentation.
• Carry out fire safety inspections and support emergency drills and evacuation exercises.
• Support environmental compliance initiatives such as waste management and pollution prevention.
• Liaise with supervisors, employees, and contractors to resolve safety concerns.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001 Internal Auditor) is an advantage.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a health, safety or environmental role.
• Good understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and risk‑management principles.
