Procurement Officer

About the role

The Procurement Officer will lead procurement and logistics activities for the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) programme in Ghana. Reporting to the FHI 360 Ghana Country Office, the role ensures that all purchases, inventory management and asset handling comply with organisational and donor policies.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain FHI 360 Ghana procurement policies and procedures.
• Manage procurement of office supplies, equipment, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and related services for both headquarters and field locations.
• Coordinate with finance, administration and program teams to ensure timely vendor payments and complete audit‑ready documentation.
• Develop standard protocols for requisition, commodity dispatch and asset inventory.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date asset and inventory registry, including allocation, maintenance and disposal in line with donor regulations.
• Ensure compliance with USG export rules and destination country import and customs regulations.
• Identify process bottlenecks, propose solutions and support training and mentorship for staff.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement, supply chain or logistics within an international development or health‑focused organization.
• Strong understanding of donor‑specific procurement and financial controls.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and locations.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with USG export compliance and customs regulations.
• Experience with inventory and asset management systems.
