Programme Officer – Macroeconomist & Financial Sector Specialist

About the role

The Embassy of Switzerland in Accra is seeking a Programme Officer to lead and support its economic development cooperation programme in Ghana. The role focuses on macro‑economic policy analysis, public financial management and financial‑sector reform, providing strategic advice to the Government of Ghana and development partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage existing Swiss development programmes and identify new activities in macroeconomics, budget support, public financial management and financial‑sector reform.
• Analyse and produce reports on macro‑economic trends and public finance developments in Ghana.
• Develop recommendations for financial‑sector reforms and present findings to government officials and partners.
• Maintain close contacts with government ministries, development agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Represent the Embassy in policy dialogues on public financial management, budget support and financial‑sector issues as instructed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics with a focus on macroeconomics.
• Minimum of four years’ experience in public financial management, macro‑fiscal policy analysis or the financial sector.
• Strong knowledge of Ghana’s economic, political and social context.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, multitask in a busy environment and collaborate effectively in a team.
