Security Officer – Facility & Access Control

About the role

The Security Officer will protect the Ghana Health Service premises in Accra, ensuring safe access for staff, visitors and contractors. You will be the first line of defence against theft, unauthorised entry and emergencies, maintaining a secure environment for all operations.

Key responsibilities

• Control and monitor access to facilities, verifying and documenting all visitors, contractors, staff and vehicles.
• Conduct security checks on persons, vehicles, bags and parcels entering or leaving the premises.
• Patrol the site, monitor CCTV, alarms and other security systems, and secure gates, doors and windows, especially outside working hours.
• Respond promptly to incidents, alarms and distress calls; lead evacuations and provide basic first‑aid assistance.
• Investigate, document and report security breaches, maintaining accurate logs and coordinating with law‑enforcement when required.
• Identify security risks and recommend improvements to strengthen facility security.

Required profile

• Minimum Senior High School certificate or equivalent; higher national diploma (HND) plus a certificate in security management is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience as a security officer or guard, preferably in a government or public‑health setting.
• Good written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of a Ghanaian language is an advantage.
• Ability to remain calm, decisive and effective during emergencies.
