Underground Fixed Plant Mechanical Technician

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Mechanical Technician to support underground fixed‑plant operations at the Ahafo South mine in Ghana. The role focuses on maintaining mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform servicing, maintenance, repair, inspection and commissioning of all underground mechanical plant and equipment in line with approved standards.
• Diagnose mechanical failures, troubleshoot systems, and execute corrective actions to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Coordinate with maintenance planning, operations and supervisory teams to schedule work, secure parts and manage shutdowns.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, update standard task procedures and contribute to failure‑analysis studies.

Required profile

• Formal qualification such as BSc/HND/BTech Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Fitter Part I & II (minimum requirement).
• Demonstrable knowledge of mining or heavy‑industry maintenance practices, industrial work‑management processes and defect‑elimination methodologies.
• Commitment to obtain Mincom Inspecting Engineer certification if not already held.
