Advisor, Health and Safety – Infrastructure

About the role

The Advisor, Health and Safety – Infrastructure will support Newmont’s Accra Hub by leading safety inspections, audits and investigations across our infrastructure projects. This role ensures that operational leaders have the information they need to manage risks, prevent incidents and maintain compliance with site standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections, workplace examinations and safety audits to identify hazards and verify critical controls.
• Partner with Infrastructure Supervisors, Engineers and Contractors to assess and manage operational and project‑related risks.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and hazard identification to inform decision‑making.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of Newmont’s “Always Safe” strategy, including the underground irrespirable atmosphere fatality risk standard.
• Deliver hands‑on safety coaching, training and pre‑task hazard assessments to site personnel.
• Execute safety protocols tailored to on‑site conditions and ensure staff compliance.
• Coordinate OHS Representative programs and support LOD1 assurance activities for health‑and‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration or certification in safety (e.g., CSP, NEBOSH) is preferred.
• Proven experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations and risk assessments in mining or large‑scale infrastructure environments.
• Strong knowledge of local and international health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
