Advisor, Health & Safety

About the role

The Advisor, Health & Safety will join Newmont’s Accra Hub to support safe operations across the Ahafo South and Ahafo North mines. You will work onsite, conducting inspections, audits and investigations to drive the company’s Always Safe strategy and protect employees, contractors and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake field inspections, safety audits, incident investigations and hazard identification at mine facilities such as crushing units, milling, tailings storage and workshops.
• Support operational leaders in identifying and managing safety risks to eliminate fatalities, injuries and illnesses.
• Deliver hands‑on safety coaching and training, including pre‑task hazard assessments, general risk assessments, event reporting and 5‑Why investigations.
• Implement and monitor safety protocols tailored to on‑site conditions, ensuring staff compliance.
• Collaborate on safety programs such as Fatality Risk Management (FRM), injury reduction, health & wellbeing initiatives, and incident management.
• Coordinate OHS Representative programs and operationalise safety management systems, including change management.

Required profile

• Proven experience conducting health and safety inspections, audits and incident investigations in an industrial or mining environment.
• Ability to work closely with operational and functional leaders to influence safe work practices.
• Strong communication skills for delivering safety coaching and training to diverse site personnel.
