Anaesthesiologist – Full‑time Clinical & Teaching Role

About the role

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital seeks qualified anaesthesiologists to deliver safe and effective anaesthetic services for surgical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, with a focus on general anaesthesia. The role combines direct patient care, supervision of trainees and participation in academic activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide peri‑operative care including pre‑operative evaluation, intra‑operative anaesthesia and post‑operative management.
• Administer and monitor general anaesthesia, manage airway, fluid therapy and emergency responses during surgery.
• Supervise anaesthesia technicians, nurses and trainees, overseeing procedures such as intubation, central lines and regional blocks.
• Lead post‑anaesthesia care unit (PACU) activities, pain control and complication management.
• Teach and mentor residents, fellows and medical students through bedside teaching, simulation and academic meetings.
• Participate in clinical research, audits and morbidity‑mortality conferences.

Required profile

• Medical degree with fellowship or membership in anaesthesia from a recognised medical college.
• Registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana and in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and involvement in clinical research.
