Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist – Full-time

About the role

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital seeks a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its anaesthetic and surgical team. Working under the supervision of an anaesthetist, the successful candidate will deliver professional anaesthesia services, ensure patient safety, and contribute to efficient operating theatre operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre‑anaesthetic assessments, including history taking, physical examination, and review of laboratory and imaging results.
• Develop patient‑specific anaesthesia, multimodal pain‑management, and recovery plans and obtain informed consent.
• Prepare patients for anaesthesia, provide education on pre‑, intra‑ and postoperative care, and ensure all required medications and equipment are functional.
• Administer appropriate anaesthesia, sedation, and multimodal pain management under supervision during surgical procedures.
• Verify functionality of anaesthetic machines, patient monitors, suction devices, and airway management equipment before each case.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse or Midwife with an Advanced Diploma/Degree in Anaesthesia or equivalent.
• Member in good standing with the Medical and Dental Council or equivalent body.
• Minimum of three years post‑qualification experience, preferably in emergency medicine and multidisciplinary team settings.
• Experience with clinical procedures such as intubation and critical decision‑making is an advantage.
