About the role

We are looking for a skilled Chef to join our team at Café Chavela in Accra. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to our high standards while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to Café Chavela recipes and standards.
• Ensure consistent food quality, taste, portion size, and presentation.
• Complete daily food preparation before and during service.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen at all times.
• Follow proper food safety, storage, and handling procedures.
• Monitor kitchen stock, report items for reorder, and control food waste.
• Store, label, and rotate ingredients and prepared food correctly.
• Work efficiently during busy periods to meet order deadlines.
• Support and guide kitchen assistants as needed.
• Clean and properly close down the kitchen at the end of each shift.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a chef or cook in a café, restaurant, or similar food‑service environment (minimum 3 years).
• Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent standards.
• Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
• Reliable, punctual, professional and able to work well in a team.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
