Contracts Lead – West Africa Mining Project

About the role

Williams Mining is seeking an experienced Contracts Lead to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of a major gold mining project in West Africa. The role works closely with the Project Director and multidisciplinary teams to ensure contracts are administered effectively and commercial risks are mitigated.

Key responsibilities

• Lead contract management from award through execution, completion and close‑out for major construction, EPC/EPCM, infrastructure and services packages.
• Administer contracts in line with agreed terms, conditions, scope, schedules and commercial requirements.
• Manage contractual correspondence, notices, variations, claims, extensions of time, disputes and change orders.
• Monitor contractor performance against obligations, milestones, deliverables and KPIs.
• Lead commercial negotiations on variations, claims, contract amendments and emerging project requirements.
• Maintain accurate contract registers, commitments, variations, claims and commercial reporting.
• Identify emerging contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support contract close‑out, final account negotiations and resolution of outstanding commercial matters.

Required profile

• Strong experience in contracts management within mining, minerals processing, infrastructure, construction or other major capital projects.
• Proven track record administering major EPC/EPCM, construction and services contracts.
• Deep understanding of contract administration, variations, claims management, change control and commercial negotiations.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced execution environment.
• Previous experience on mining projects in Africa or other remote jurisdictions is highly advantageous.
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Law, Business or related field.
