About the role

The University of Ghana invites applications for the Dean of the School of Performing Arts, a senior leadership position within the College of Humanities. The Dean will guide the School’s strategic direction, oversee academic programmes, and ensure the School contributes to national and global development through the arts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership for the School of Performing Arts, fostering excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
• Ensure approved programmes are delivered effectively by faculty and staff.
• Manage human, financial, and material resources in line with university policies and statutes.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across the College of Humanities and external partners.
• Lead fundraising efforts and attract research funding to support the School’s growth.
• Represent the School on university committees, including the Academic Board and School Management Committee.

Required profile

• Hold professorial status at an academic or research institution, or equivalent senior industry experience.
• Demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, research, and extension within performing arts disciplines.
• Proven managerial and administrative experience with a track record of fostering a collegial environment.
• Ability to secure research and development funding.
• Visionary outlook to drive the School’s expansion and development.
