Deputy Chief Information Technology Officer – Planning, Security & Support

About the role

The University of Ghana seeks a senior IT leader to assist the Chief Information Technology Officer in shaping the technology vision that supports teaching, learning, research and administration. The Deputy CITO will oversee planning, security and support services, ensuring robust, secure and efficient IT operations across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for IT planning, security and support services.
• Oversee implementation of enterprise‑wide IT initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet scope.
• Develop and enforce IT policies, standards, governance, audit and compliance requirements.
• Manage the annual operating and capital budgets and conduct cost‑benefit analyses for technology investments.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Management or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of progressive management experience in large‑scale IT divisions, including enterprise system implementations.
• Proven experience in IT planning, support and security within a public or private sector organization.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of IT security and ability to define security requirements.
• Professional certifications such as CISM, CGEIT, ITSM or PMP.
