Deputy Director of Internal Audit

About the role

The Koforidua Technical University is seeking a dynamic, self‑motivated professional to serve as Deputy Director of Internal Audit. Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit, the incumbent will help ensure compliance with the Technical Universities Act, 2016 and other financial regulations while supporting the university’s fiscal integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director in overseeing all audit functions in line with national laws and university policies.
• Control and maintain financial transactions and accounting records in accordance with general accounting standards and government regulations.
• Review monthly and annual financial reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare operating budgets, coordinate multi‑year fiscal planning and support annual audit processes.
• Analyse budget proposals and provide recommendations to the Director.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work of audit personnel.
• Develop, implement and maintain auditing and administrative policies and procedures for the university.

Required profile

• Research Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Chartered Accountant status with membership in ACCA, ICA, CPA or equivalent.
• Minimum six years senior internal audit experience in a university setting or ten years managerial experience in industry or public practice.
• Evidence of scholarly publications for external assessment.
• Strong analytical, critical and result‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Chartered Accountant qualification (ACCA/ICA/CPA).
• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Proficiency with auditing software.
• Membership of CISA (preferred).
