Deputy Director, Operations

About the role

The University of Ghana seeks a senior professional to serve as Deputy Director, Operations within the Safety and Security Services Directorate. Reporting to the Director, the incumbent will support the overall security strategy and may act as Director in their absence.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as liaison officer to monitor and coordinate contract security services on behalf of the University.
• Coordinate activities of Sector Officers in Command (OICs) and ensure discipline across sectors.
• Organise and deliver training programmes for OICs.
• Enforce all University security directives and policies.
• Monitor and maintain security equipment and systems.
• Coordinate security operations with local law‑enforcement agencies.

Required profile

• First university degree plus a Master’s degree in Security Management (Industrial Security) or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional, Physical Security Professional, Professional Certified Investigator or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in security services/management, preferably with retired military officers (rank Major or above) or retired police officers (Superintendent or above).
• Eligibility to serve a full four‑year term before reaching age 60.
• Experience in campus security is desirable but not mandatory.
