Director, Centre for Disability Studies & Advocacy

About the role

The University of Ghana is seeking a senior academic leader to head the newly established Centre for Disability Studies and Advocacy (CEDSA). The Director will shape the centre’s strategic direction, promote inclusive research, teaching and policy advocacy, and ensure that disability rights are embedded across the university and wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership in setting up and operationalising CEDSA.
• Develop and oversee graduate programmes, short courses and training on disability.
• Manage human, financial and material resources in line with university policies.
• Lead research, documentation and dissemination of disability‑related information.
• Advocate for inclusive policies and infrastructure for students and staff with disabilities.
• Collaborate with the College of Humanities and other university units to integrate disability studies into curricula.
• Report to the Pro Vice‑Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs and liaise with the Council, Academic Board and Centre Management Committee.

Required profile

• Professorial status in an academic or research institution, or equivalent senior experience in industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in disability research, advocacy or inclusive education.
• Proven record of academic leadership, programme development and resource management.
• Strong understanding of university governance and policy formulation.
