Director of Finance (University)

About the role

The Director of Finance will serve as the Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Financial Advisor to the Vice‑Chancellor, overseeing all financial affairs of Koforidua Technical University. The role ensures the university’s financial health, compliance with statutory regulations, and alignment of expenditures with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial advice to the Vice‑Chancellor and act as the university’s Chief Accounting Officer.
• Supervise all accounting officers and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with the Technical Universities Act and other relevant regulations.
• Collect all legitimate revenue due to the university and control expenditures against approved budgets.
• Prepare financial statements that comply with applicable accounting standards and national laws.
• Liaise with external auditors to secure audited financial statements.
• Oversee the implementation of financial policies and ensure compliance with governing bodies.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant with a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum six (6) years’ experience as Deputy Director of Finance or equivalent in a university or similar institution.
• Analytical, results‑oriented, innovative and visionary mindset.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory abilities.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Strong team‑player attitude.

Required skills

• Strong IT skills.
• Familiarity with accounting software.
