Drill Trainer – Mining Operations

About the role

The Drill Trainer will deliver high‑quality drilling training programs for Newmont’s mining personnel in Ghana. Working from the Accra Hub, you will combine classroom instruction, hands‑on field coaching, and competency assessments to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver competency‑based training on Sandvik D45KS, DP1500i, DR560 Cubex and CATMD6200 equipment.
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve training materials, assessment tools and competency frameworks.
• Assess trainee competence, provide coaching, and create development plans.
• Maintain accurate training records, certifications and compliance documentation.
• Analyze training effectiveness and report on performance and outcomes.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Safety teams to identify training needs.
• Use operational data and incident trends to refine training programs.
• Ensure all activities comply with company, regulatory, health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in drilling operations and training delivery within the mining sector.
• Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory standards for drilling activities.
• Ability to assess competence, provide coaching and develop training plans.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
