Emergency Preparedness & Response Officer

About the role

The Emergency Preparedness & Response Officer will support the World Food Programme’s Emergency Preparedness Response (EPR) unit in Ghana. The role contributes to the design, coordination and implementation of preparedness and response activities that help Ghana achieve its vision of economic self‑sufficiency and support WFP’s mission to achieve Zero Hunger.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and updating emergency preparedness plans and standard operating procedures.
• Support coordination with the Government of Ghana, UN agencies, NGOs and other partners on preparedness and response initiatives.
• Contribute to monitoring, data collection and reporting on food‑security emergencies and preparedness activities.
• Participate in field missions, assessments and simulations as required.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for emergency response operations.

Required profile

• Junior‑consultant level with a relevant academic background (e.g., humanitarian affairs, disaster management, public health, international development).
• Demonstrated interest in emergency preparedness and humanitarian response.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast‑paced environment.
