Engine Field Service / Engine Workshop Technician

About the role

We are seeking an Engine Field Service / Engine Workshop Technician to join Cummins Africa Middle East’s Service Operations in Ghana. The role involves delivering high‑quality diagnosis, repair, overhaul and rebuild services for complex engine products directly at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site diagnostics, repairs, overhauls and preventive maintenance on diesel and gas engines, minimizing downtime.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers, providing expert advice and building trust.
• Document all service activities, including worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims and quality records.
• Escalate unresolved technical issues to product specialists or supervisors and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Coach junior technicians and apprentices, sharing knowledge and reviewing repair plans.
• Identify additional service and sales opportunities while adhering to health, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Strong diagnostic ability to translate customer complaints into structured troubleshooting plans.
• Proficient use of electronic service tools and software for data capture and analysis.
• In‑depth understanding of engine mechanical and electrical systems and OEM documentation.
• Commitment to quality, safety and accurate record‑keeping.
