Engineering Supervisor – Shaft Maintenance

About the role

The Engineering Supervisor – Shaft Maintenance will lead a team of cage operators and shaft maintenance technicians to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Obuasi underground mine shafts. This role is critical to maintaining plant availability while meeting regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance for breaches and promote a safety‑first culture.
• Monitor, collect and report data on shaft maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with LI2182, government approvals and the site Environmental Management Plan.
• Review, approve and sign off shaft maintenance items against the Refurbishment Execution Plan, detailed designs, testing and commissioning plans.
• Deliver shaft maintenance work on schedule, within budget and to the quality standards defined in the Feasibility Study.
• Identify sub‑standard practices, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain the Shaft Engineering Management Plan as part of the overall Project Execution Plan.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, or equivalent HND/MET qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supervising shaft maintenance in an underground mining environment.
