English Language & Literature Teacher (Upper Primary & Secondary)

About the role

Pioneers International Academy is seeking enthusiastic English Language and Literature teachers to join its faculty in the Accra and Tema region. You will work with upper‑primary and secondary students, delivering engaging lessons that develop core language skills and a love for literature.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver English Language and Literature lessons aligned with the school curriculum.
• Teach upper‑primary and secondary classes; step in for primary classes when required.
• Prepare students for internal and external examinations.
• Develop reading, writing, speaking, listening and analytical abilities.
• Introduce a variety of literary texts to foster critical thinking.
• Use differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Design and administer assignments, quizzes, tests and examinations.
• Assess performance, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain a positive, well‑managed classroom environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development and school activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching outcomes.
• Communicate student progress to parents when needed.

Required profile

• University degree in English, English Language, English Literature, Linguistics or a related field.
• Strong subject knowledge and at least three years of teaching experience.
• Experience teaching upper‑primary and/or secondary students; flexibility to teach primary classes.
• Ability to prepare students for internal and external examinations.
• Recognised teaching qualification (advantageous).
• Experience with the Cambridge curriculum (highly desirable).
• Integrity, commitment to excellence and passion for student success.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, strong classroom management.
• Creativity, teamwork, initiative and reliable punctuality.
