About the role

GBfoods is seeking an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to lead and supervise all EHS activities across its production sites. The role ensures continuous optimisation of production while maintaining a strong safety and environmental culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote a continuous‑improvement strategy for EHS initiatives and embed an EHS culture throughout the organisation.
  • Conduct and coordinate EHS inspections on the shop floor, ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies and key performance indicators.
  • Verify that contractors, suppliers and consultants adhere to relevant legislation and GBfoods safety practices.
  • Lead accident‑prevention efforts, manage near‑miss reporting and support incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Analyse incident records (personal injury, property damage, fires, spills) and implement appropriate corrective measures.
  • Support departments in preparing and monitoring risk assessments and safe‑working practices.
  • Respond to employee safety and health concerns, assist Occupational Health & Safety Committees, and act during fires or emergencies.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all personnel, contractors and visitors.
  • Maintain environmental safeguards, housekeeping standards and amenities to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Perform safety inductions, safety checks before and after non‑routine work, and verify maintenance activities comply with safety requirements.
  • Oversee the condition and periodic servicing of firefighting equipment.
  • Provide support for internal and external H&S/EMS audits and supervise implementation of audit recommendations.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in environmental, health and safety management within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international EHS legislation and standards.
  • Ability to lead investigations, analyse data and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with employees, contractors, suppliers and senior management.
  • Detail‑oriented with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
