Excel Specialist – Remote Contract

About the role

We are looking for an Excel Specialist to become the backbone of our data operations. Working remotely with finance, marketing and operations teams across Africa, you will turn raw data into actionable business intelligence through advanced spreadsheet solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain highly complex, scalable Excel workbooks, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from CRMs, ERPs and cloud databases using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance‑tracking models for senior management.
• Audit existing Excel files, troubleshoot formula errors and ensure 100% data integrity.
• Translate technical insights into visual formats and train remote cross‑functional teams on using the tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modelling.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines across African time zones.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• VBA scripting and macro development.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI.
• Basic knowledge of SQL databases.
