Facilities Manager – Ghana

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Facilities Manager will ensure that all buildings, properties and services at the AIMS Ghana Centre meet the needs of staff, students and visitors. The role guarantees that facilities operate to AIMS network standards, supporting a 24‑hour learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, supervise and coordinate contractors for security, maintenance, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling.
• Calculate and compare costs for goods and services to achieve maximum value for money.
• Develop and implement business continuity, standard operating procedures and contingency plans.
• Ensure compliance with local legislation, Higher Education Council standards and building, safety and fire codes.
• Plan space allocation and resource utilisation for new buildings or re‑organisation of existing premises.

Required profile

• Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, building management, construction, engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience, including hands‑on work on electricity, plumbing and security systems.
• Experience handling confidential information and managing internal and external relationships.
• Strong project‑management abilities with attention to detail and deadline orientation.

Required skills

• Electrical, plumbing and security systems maintenance.
• Knowledge of building, safety and fire codes and ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Familiarity with energy or building management systems and work‑order software.
• Functional bilingualism in English and French.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and internet applications such as Skype and Google Apps.
