Global Health Security Advisor

About the role

The Global Health Security Advisor will provide technical leadership for the Ghana Integrated Health Partnership (IHP) and its partners. Based in Accra, the role focuses on building sustainable systems for disease surveillance, response, and overall health security aligned with national and global priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and maintain a database of public health emergencies, disease outbreaks, and One Health issues at national, regional, and global levels, and produce regular analytical reports.
• Lead IHP’s participation in the implementation of activities under Ghana’s National Action Plan for Health Security.
• Plan, budget, and coordinate global health security activities, mobilising resources to support the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and resource mobilisation to strengthen capacity for integrated disease surveillance and response.
• Provide technical guidance on evidence‑based surveillance, data‑driven decision‑making, and emergency response strategies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in public health emergency management, disease surveillance, or health security, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of the One Health approach and its application to health security.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, NGOs, and international partners.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with experience preparing technical documents for diverse audiences.
