Head Credit Risk Management

About the role

Access Bank Plc is seeking a senior leader to head its Credit Risk Management function across the Accra and Tema regions. The role will shape credit policy, oversee portfolio risk and ensure compliance with the bank’s risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Implement credit strategies and policies aligned with the bank’s overall risk acceptance criteria.
• Establish and maintain a robust framework for managing the credit portfolio to minimise loss exposure.
• Monitor, review and analyse credit positions across market segments, raising issues and recommending actions.
• Authorise facility applications after obtaining required approvals.
• Develop and enforce credit administration processes to protect the bank’s assets.
• Ensure adequate collateral coverage and devise strategies for portfolio maintenance.
• Lead a team, providing vision, direction and performance oversight.

Required profile

• A first degree in any discipline; a relevant master’s degree is an advantage.
• Professional certifications such as ACIB, ICA, ACCA or CFA are desirable.
• Formal training in Banking Law/Regulations.
• Minimum 10 years of post‑qualification experience in credit risk management, with at least 8 years in banking and 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in credit administration, credit analysis, loan structuring, credit workout/restructuring and financial analysis.
