Head of Nursing Department

About the role

The Head of the Nursing Department will report to the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and lead the department in delivering the Nursing programme. The position is based at the Dansoman campus in Accra and is a three‑year appointment, renewable, aimed at maintaining high academic standards.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, coordinate and supervise all activities of the Nursing Department in line with university statutes.
• Implement the Nursing curriculum effectively and maintain high teaching standards.
• Supervise academic staff, support their professional development and ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
• Oversee research, service and community outreach initiatives undertaken by the department.

Required profile

• Professional nurse with a researched postgraduate qualification.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in an administrative role.
• Previous experience as Head or Assistant Head of a Nursing College.
• Held the rank of Senior Lecturer in a tertiary institution.
• Proven track record in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
