Head Teacher

About the role

The Head Teacher will provide overall academic and operational leadership for Highcrest School, ensuring that teaching and learning align with the school’s vision, mission and blended curricula. This full‑time position is based in Accra and serves both the Accra and Tema regions, overseeing a nurturing, values‑based environment for early‑years learners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of lesson plans and classroom instruction across all grades.
• Mentor, support and evaluate teachers, fostering professional growth and collaborative practice.
• Monitor student progress and ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment.
• Collaborate with families, staff and external stakeholders, leading staff meetings and professional‑development sessions.
• Ensure compliance with educational standards, policies and accreditation requirements (e.g., Oxford International Curriculum).
• Contribute to school improvement planning, promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s values.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching qualification or degree in Education; leadership or management training is an asset.
• Proven classroom and early‑years teaching experience, preferably with Montessori, EYFS or similar child‑centred frameworks.
• Experience designing, implementing and evaluating early‑childhood curricula, especially international programmes such as OIC, Cambridge, Pearson or IB.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, values‑based education and a safe learning environment.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
