Legal Officer

About the role

The Legal Officer will support HAPPY Program’s operations by providing expert legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with Ghanaian law and industry regulations. This role is pivotal for safeguarding the company’s commercial interests across its manufacturing and agribusiness activities.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and manage commercial contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
• Provide legal counsel to management and business units on operational and commercial matters.
• Monitor legislative changes and advise on legal implications for the business.
• Manage legal disputes and coordinate with external solicitors as needed.
• Support corporate governance, including statutory filings and regulatory reporting.
• Conduct legal research, prepare opinions and reports.
• Review procurement, employment and vendor agreements to mitigate legal risk.
• Assist in developing compliance policies and internal controls.
• Maintain accurate records of legal documents and confidential information.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and professional qualification from the Ghana School of Law (BL) preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in corporate, commercial or in‑house legal practice.
• Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, agribusiness or a multinational environment is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian corporate, commercial, labour and contract law.
