Life Sciences Researcher (AI Evaluation)

About the role

Gramian Consultancy is seeking experienced life‑sciences researchers to design advanced scientific‑reasoning tasks for an AI evaluation benchmark focused on biology. This non‑coding, remote contractor assignment lasts six weeks and aims to create rigorous, self‑contained problems that test AI systems' ability to interpret evidence, reason scientifically, and synthesize information.

Key responsibilities

• Design challenging life‑sciences reasoning problems based on realistic experiments, datasets, figures, sequences, structures and literature‑style evidence.
• Write clear questions with objectively defensible answers and develop expert reference solutions that explain the required scientific reasoning.
• Validate biological claims, calculations, assumptions and conclusions, identifying ambiguities or alternative valid interpretations.
• Incorporate reviewer feedback while maintaining high quality and throughput, documenting tasks reproducibly.

Required profile

• PhD, post‑doctoral experience, or equivalent advanced research experience in the life sciences.
• Deep expertise in at least one biological discipline (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, neuroscience, etc.).
• Strong ability to interpret scientific experiments, data and research findings, with solid understanding of experimental design and scientific reasoning.
