Management Information Systems (MIS) Officer – Kumasi

About the role

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is seeking a Management Information Systems (MIS) Officer to support the Root and Tuber Improvement and Marketing Programme. Based in Kumasi, the officer will work under the National Programme Coordinator and the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to collect, manage and analyse programme data.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the M&E unit head in monitoring field activities, analysing and recording data.
• Liaise with MIS users, assess information processing needs and design data structures covering crop budgets, production prospects, market surveys, credit disbursement and gender‑disaggregated data.
• Advise on software procurement, lead database development, ensure data consistency, integrity and generate reports.
• Document the system, produce user manuals and provide end‑user support for independent operation.
• Maintain and enhance the operational system, integrating internal controls for accuracy and safety.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science or related IT discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience managing information systems, preferably in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team and communicate findings effectively.

Required skills

• SQL and Microsoft Access database administration.
• Database design and structure understanding.
• Proficiency with Windows XP/Server, LAN/WAN communications.
• Microsoft Office suite, SPSS, and general computer programming.
• Experience with PC hardware, printers and fax machines.
